If you decide to do something about it here are some tips you could consider as you say a hearty good-bye to dry hair.
• Check your tools and process. Use deep moisturizing shampoos and conditioners that are sulfate-free. Apply light yet moisturizing de-frizzing products throughout your grooming process. This is better than choosing to apply a heavy product all at once. If you decide to groom your hair when wet be sure to use a wide-tooth comb and never a brush. Where your hair shows that it lacks natural oils and is undoubtedly unmanageable, the use of a sulfate shampoo is non-essential. Instead, opt for sulfate-free shampoos and co-wash.
• Deep condition. This should be practiced once a week before showering. The steam from the shower cap will enrich the process and eliminate dry parched hair strands. Leave the rinse out of the conditioner for last and ensure it's done with cool water to close the hair cuticles, which prevents moisture from escaping. A power conditioning tip is also to apply conditioner while in the shower and comb it out without rinsing.
• Use a diffuser or the air-dry method. Air drying or a diffuser attachment utilized on your blow-dryer to dry hair is more effective at minimizing frizz than other methods. It is also advisable to use a t-shirt instead of a towel to dry the excess water from hair. A t-shirt keeps hair moisturized with less friction that can lead to damage.
A quick tip: Over-hydration is a reality. Where hair starts to become greasy minimize the frequency of conditioning. Happy hair hydrating!
